Meet Our Leaders

We meet as equals around the table.

The Charis Alliance is a global fellowship of churches united by a shared spiritual heritage, common doctrinal and practical convictions, and common goals. Authority within the movement ultimately resides in these local churches and is expressed through the delegates they appoint to represent them. Every five years, delegates gather at a Global Leadership Forum. Participants in the 2023 Forum, held in Kenya, are pictured above.

The International Coordinator

The day-to-day work of the Charis Alliance is entrusted to the International Coordinator. Appointed by the Council, the Coordinator promotes the Alliance’s health, growth, development, and shared objectives. In addition, he recruits and collaborates closely with members of the Service Team; coordinates meetings of Charis Forums, the Charis Council, and the Executive Committee; and represents the Charis Alliance before governments, NGOs, churches, and other organizations.

The Charis Alliance Service Team

The International Coordinator works closely with the Charis Alliance Service Team, a group of volunteers and part-time staff dedicated to the health, growth, and expansion of our movement. Please note that neither the International Coordinator nor the Service Team exercises authority over local churches. Their vital role is to strengthen the movement and facilitate its shared work.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee works in partnership with the International Coordinator and his Team to ensure that the ideals and commitments of the Charis Alliance become reality through clear strategies and meaningful action steps. The Committee is comprised of six members appointed for three-year terms. They typically meet 2-4 times per year.

The Charis Council

As noted above, the ultimate authority of the Charis Alliance rests with its Member Associations. These associations appoint delegates to participate in Global Leadership Forums, which convene every five years. The Charis Council was established to provide continuity between Forums and meets annually. Council members represent their associations at the annual meeting and promote the global Alliance among the leaders and churches they serve.
