Latin America’s Leadership Gathering
We are just a few days away from the two-year anniversary of our last Charis Alliance Forum in Kenya, where we studied, in the light of God's Word, the principles of interdependence and were challenged to put them into practice.
Continuing in that same vision, from April 4 to 7 of this year, several representatives from our Latin American fellowships gathered in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. Our goal was to develop leadership teams that can work together on collaborative projects in church planting, leadership training, and community well-being.
By God's grace, what began as a dream within a small LATAM team became a reality. Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina each sent two representatives for every area of our shared mission, marking a starting point for what the Lord desires to do in our continent through the Charis Alliance.
With the presence of Dave Guiles (International Coordinator), Alejandro Robles (Strategic Initiatives Coordinator), Eduardo Pizzi (Regional Coordinator), Jorge Núñez, and a total of 18 representatives from the three countries, we shared meaningful days of prayer, study, fellowship, and collaboration.
The gathering focused on the goals we had defined in advance:
To lay the biblical foundations for collaborative work at a Latin American level. David Guiles encouraged us to embrace a broad, noble, and clear vision following Nehemiah’s example, and later expanded on the concept of interdependence through the life of the apostle Paul. Edgar Cruz shared key principles for leading multinational teams.
Eduardo Pizzi presented an analysis of the current situation in Latin America in each area of our common mission, helping us gain a global perspective.
Jorge Núñez introduced a practical tool for collaborative work and led sessions where each team applied it to a project related to their specific area.
Each day began with a special time of worship and another dedicated to intercession, where we intentionally prayed for the needs of churches and communities across Latin America, for unity, and for God’s guidance in the next steps ahead.
We were blessed to join the Córdoba church for a Sunday of celebration, sharing a meal and fellowship with them. Later that evening, back at the hotel, we observed the Lord’s Supper, led by our Brazilian brothers.
So, what comes next?
We hope each team will be strengthened to become a launching point for joint projects across our Latin American fellowship, inspiring leaders and churches to join the cause.
As part of the Charis Alliance, we renew our commitment to continue working toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission, firmly convinced that God calls us to do this together—sharing needs, pooling resources, strengthening bonds between churches, practicing interdependence, looking beyond our local congregations, embracing our shared identity as a global movement, and rising to the challenge of contributing to our common mission.
“I think the most important thing about the meeting is meeting and connecting with brothers and sisters from other countries and cultures, but who love and serve the same true God… it's a blessing to be part of the CHURCH.”
—Pablo Corrales (Argentina)
“Understanding the depth and dimension of what it means to be a brother or sister truly affected me. I feel much more connected to my brothers and sisters in Christ after understanding this truth more fully. I want to live this reality in practice.”
—Thiago Silva de Moraes (Brazil)
