⛪️ Four Obstacles that can slow our efforts to plant new churches
Some parts of Cameroon face armed conflict, crime, and displacement. Travel can be unsafe, and communities may be forced to move often.
Cameroon has many languages and local traditions. Church planters need to understand each community’s beliefs and customs so they can share the gospel clearly and respectfully.
New churches may struggle to find meeting spaces, obtain Bibles and transportation, and provide financial support for pastors.
Groups who have only operated in Cameroon for twenty-five years or less, including the Charis Alliance, have been unable to gain official government recognition. As a result, some local churches face the risk of being forcibly closed without warning.
🙏🏼 Three Prayer Requests for those laboring to plant new churches
Ask God to protect believers in areas affected by violence, bring peace, and provide safe ways for churches to serve their communities.
Ask God to help church planters share Christ clearly across languages and cultures with humility, love, and understanding.
Ask God to move the hearts of government officials to grant churches full legal permission to start new congregations and use church buildings.
🌍 Two Interesting Facts about our movement in this country
Immigrants from the neighboring Central African Republic and Chad formed the first Charis Alliance churches in Cameroon.
As immigrants’ children attend Cameroonian schools and native Cameroonians come to faith in Christ, existing churches must adapt their main language and church customs to welcome these new members.
